Understanding Free Will During Spiritual Evolution

What is Free Will, really? Do we have Free Will in this lifetime?

Free Will is something that the spiritual teachings have either rejected – saying there is no Free Will, only God’s will – or over emphasised, understanding that we create our reality while denying that the Divine has anything to do with it. The truth of the matter is more nuanced.

While there can be different beliefs in regards to this, one thing is for certain – what we believe, is what will be created into our lives, especially when these beliefs get coded into our energetic system and cellular structure.

Free Will is no different – when we believe we have no choice, we will unconsciously manifest that, and we’ll get into situations that allow us no choice. However, if we start to see that we actually do have Free Will, that we have a choice and that we are not at the mercy of some bigger entity or a being who wouldn’t want us to make our own choices, we will start to trust our choices more. We do not exist just to please our Spirit Guides, just to please God or to please the world. It’s about co-creation, not pleasing.

That said, although the Divine has a will of it’s own, it isn’t exclusive of our own Free Will, unless there’s something in our desires that isn’t the highest path for us or doesn’t serve the highest good of all involved. When we ask what the Divine Will is for any given situation, we’re not looking for orders on what to do, but rather suggestions on what the Divine wants us to consider. At times, the Divine protects us from harm, but there are also times when we’ll have to make our own mistakes. Knowing this, the truly empowering Spirit Guides will encourage us to grow and get out of our shell, not be sheltered 24/7, unless we are in dire need of that. Facing challenges and conquering them is a part of this growth process.

We should’t forget that we also have our own Soul Spark, our own Higher Self and Higher aspects. So even at the stage where we are tuning into Oneness, we have these parts of our own spiritual spectrum. Our Free Will is the force that is played through these aspects, and there’s a connecting point where our Higher Free Will and Divine Will blends together. That’s what we can call our own Divine Will, and especially for the Wayshowers who are meant to anchor in the Oneness and Unity codes, are highly in tune with this force of Light. For sure there are also cases, where a Wayshower is so embodied in their Divine Will, that their Personal Free Will takes a back seat, and I believe a lot of the times in service, this also has to be the case. We can decide what service we want to offer, but shouldn’t infringe upon the recipients Free Will. Free Will shouldn’t be used against another person’s Free Will.

There’s one more perspective to consider, which has to do with the Ego. This is the one part that may have confused people about Free Will, as the Ego desires can also be separated into Lower Ego desires and Higher Ego desires. Usually people will think of the Lower Ego desires when it comes to this, which is all of the programming, all of the conditioning, all of the things we work to peel off during our spiritual evolution journey. Higher Ego desires can help us express ourselves in the human experience, and are often informed by our Higher Self and Higher Consciousness. These can be just as tangible desires as the Lower Ego desires are, allowing us to express our Uniqueness in the human form. Getting our human needs met in this lifetimes is important, knowing that we’re also meant for more – we’re meant to thrive in this lifetime, and the Divine Will doesn’t exclude that from our lives, as the Divine is Infinitely Expansive and Abundant.
